Are you ready to be part of Public Market Week?

In its third year, Toronto Public Market Week is a chance for all market operators to join the movement and promote their community-based markets. This week long celebration of the importance of neighbourhood markets as community hubs that increase access to fresh food and more importantly places that celebrate diverse cultures in our city.

This year’s Public Markets Week comes at a very important time as the City of Toronto promotes its Love Local campaign one of the ten Mayors' Actions to support and protect local businesses and manufacturers in response to the new tariff measures from the United States.

Shopping at public markets is a perfect way to answer the City’s call to Love Local, as Toronto’s diverse neighbourhood markets have always served as vital venues for small, local entrepreneurs to build sustainable businesses that are directly embedded in their communities. This year’s Public Markets Week will highlight how supporting public markets, as valuable tools for fostering inclusive local economies, is a great way to not only Love Local, but also strengthen neighbourhood vibrancy and the links between markets and communities they serve.

Toronto Public Markets Map | Outdoor season

Building on last year’s launch of the first-ever Toronto Public Markets Map, this year’s Public Markets Week will feature an updated market map reflecting the markets operating during this year’s outdoor market season, making it easier for residents and visitors to find their market.

Please check the marketcityTO map on the resource map to verify your market information and send us an email to infor@marketcityTO if updates are required.

Market Guided Tours

Last year, we hosted five successful market tours across the city. Building on that idea, this year we are supporting markets that want to organize neighbourhood tours. Currently, we are collaborating with the Eglinton Way BIA Farmers’ Market, St. Lawrence Market, Withrow Farmers’ Market, Chinatown, and the Ontario Food Terminal, along with their respective Business Improvement Areas.

These tours will highlight the local entrepreneurs and unique features of each market and neighbourhood, demonstrating how markets and main streets can support one another.

If you have an idea for a market tour, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us via email at info@marketcityTO.
